Sungrow, a China-based supplier of inverter solutions for renewables, has entered into a 100MW supply agreement with Japanese firm YUASA during Japan’s World Smart Energy Week 2020.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sungrow will provide PV and energy storage solutions across Japan.

Sungrow Japan country manager Sun Xiao said: “We are more than delighted to partner with YUASA to better serve the local customers in this market of huge potentials. We’ll keep relentlessly pursuing technical innovations to minimise LCOE and offering more profitable portfolio despite the ongoing FiT.”

The agreement expands Sungrow’s market position in building sustainable energy and decarbonising the local economies.

YUASA spokesperson said: “It’s another landmark cooperation for us to communicate closely to provide competitive solutions based on local needs in Japan. Sungrow stands out due to its optimal products and the comprehensive service when we take an in-depth comparison.”

The China-based firm also displayed a progressive technological product portfolio including commercial inverter solutions for distributed PV projects, turnkey central inverter solutions for utility-scale installations and energy storage system solutions.

Sungrow’s commercial solution SG100CX-JP was displayed at the show, which is optimised to tackle the increasing demands of Japan’s distributed PV plants.

The 1000V solution features 12 MPPTs that are designed to work with bi-facial modules and offers optimal performance in complex terrains.

Equipped with a IP66 and C5 corrosion class protection, the solution is claimed to be resilient to harsh conditions.

The SG100CX-JP solution has built-in PID recovery function that maintains unparalleled yields for solar plants.

Sungrow also displayed its integrated energy storage systems (ESS) such as AC-Coupled solution ST159KWH-50HV and DC-Coupled solution ST751KWH-D350+SG49K5J for C&I applications.

Since entering the Japanese market in 2014, Sungrow has received orders for some of major projects that include more than 50MWh ESS solutions across Japan, a 9MW PV project in Tochigi and a 2MW PV project in Oita.
