Total is the operator of production licence 255B. We have given the company consent to drill exploration well 6406/6-5 S, which aims to investigate a prospect named Jasper.

The well is in the Norwegian Sea and the drill site’s coordinates will be:

64°35’47.275’’ N

06°51’15.269’’ E

Water depth at the site is around 267 metres.

Drilling is scheduled to begin on 1 July 2018, with a duration of around 90 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Drilling is to be carried out using the Scarabeo 8 mobile drilling facility. This is a semi-submersible drilling facility of the Moss CS50 MKII type, operated by Saipem Norge. It was built in Russia and Italy and commissioned in 2012.

The facility is classified by DNV GL and registered in the Bahamas.

Scarabeo 8 was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in May 2012.
