NextEra Energy has wrapped up its previously announced acquisition of natural gas utility Florida City Gas from Southern Company.

NextEra Energy chairman and CEO Jim Robo said: “We are pleased to complete this transaction and welcome the Florida City Gas employees to the NextEra Energy family.
“Through our long-term strategy of enhancing productivity, expanding clean energy and making smart infrastructure investments, we will be able to extend our best-in-class value proposition of affordability, reliability and customer service to Florida City Gas customers.”
Florida City Gas serves approximately 110,000 residential and commercial natural-gas customers in Florida’s Miami-Dade, Brevard, St. Lucie and Indian River counties with 3,700 miles of natural gas pipelines.
