Yingli owns a 30% equity stake in the JV, and has supplied about 170,000 of its multicrystalline solar panels for the project.

The JV was created to build, develop and connect utility-scale solar plants in Shuozhou City, which is one of the largest city in the Shanxi province.

The inaugural solar plant is estimated to yield annual revenues of $10.3m under China’s feed-in tariff for the next 20 years. The facility will reduce an estimated 77,000 tons of carbon emissions per year.

Yingli Green Energy chairman and chief executive officer Liansheng Miao said: "We are pleased that our JV with Datong Coal Mine Group has connected this major project in Shanxi province, a region that has directly experienced the serious, negative ecological consequences of coal mining and combustion.

"Our new solar power plant is a boon to the local environment as well as to the local economy."

Earlier this year, Yingli started construction of a 50MW solar power plant on former mining lands in Hubei Province, China.

Headquartered in Baoding, China, Yingli has distributed over 13GW of solar panels to global customers.
