Yingli China is likely to complete delivery of modules in the fourth quarter of 2013, while SGCC will use these modules in the largest of three solar projects, which it is developing in Zhangbei County, Hebei Province.
The three projects with a combined capacity of 60MW are part of the second phase of China’s National Wind/PV/Energy Storage and Transmission Joint Demonstration Project, which integrates different renewable energy technologies with smart transmission and storage technologies.
The national project, which is aimed at reliably supplying green energy across the grid, will help SGCC meet its goal of establishing a ‘Strong & Smart Grid’ in the country.
Yingli Green Energy chairman and CEO Liansheng Miao said that the company has collaborated with SGCC on a high-profile federal energy demonstration project.
"We were selected for this project because of our leadership position in the domestic market, and we are pleased to note that the bidding results demonstrate that the price gap between China and overseas markets is narrowing as supply and demand fundamentals in the Chinese solar market are strengthening, helping to further improve our profitability," added Miao.
