The companies said it reduces energy costs by using IT technology to remotely control lighting down to and within individual LED tube lamps. Using Robot Technology, sensor network technology, and power management technology, this system allows for control of lighting using LED tubes in existing lighting fixtures.

Each individual tube can be remotely controlled and through remote wireless control, each tube can be independently dimmed to one of eight lighting levels. The tubes can be grouped or controlled independently. The company claimed that the result of this control is a further reduction in energy costs and related greenhouse gas emissions.

The companies added that NetLED Lighting controls the lights over a desk, turning them on at 100% when someone is there while dimming them to 20% when away.

Lighting can even be controlled based on the status of a nearby individual PC. When the PC goes to sleep, the system assumes there is no one there and dims or turns off the lights surrounding that particular PC.

In addition, the system can access weather data to assist with lighting controls. On sunny days, the lighting around windows could be dimmed. The system could also dim and turn lights on/off as the sun sets or rises replacing the need for and tuning requirements around light meters.

The system can access disaster information to assist with lighting controls. The lights can be set up to flash to arouse attention. The lights can even be set up with evacuation patterns to help people find the exits, according to the companies.

The gateway system allows control and monitoring of the NetLED Lighting through an application server on the internet.

Max Perelman, president of American Environmental & Agricultural, said: “NetLED is a huge step forward in adding unlimited control, lamp-level measurement, and incredible efficiency to the existing energy and environmental benefits of LEDs.”

The LED lighting system with built-in wireless capabilities, wireless transmitter, and gateway system will be available in April 2010.
