The new model, which is powered by a 50V lithium-ion battery manufactured by Sanyo Electric Company, can run a distance of 43km per charge.
The new model features plug-in recharging which enables the charging by connecting the plug from the machine to a 100V household electrical outlet (3-hole grounded type) by means of an electrical cord.
According to the company, the model, which has a light weight alloy frame to provide the ease of maneuvering, features Yamaha Integrated Power Unit that facilitates a smooth and quiet ride.
In addition, the EV also has a mutual-communication type controller,Yamaha Mutual Communication System featuring Yamaha control technology, by virtue of which the battery, controller, charger and the meter systems operate constantly, exchanging data via a data exchange circuits for an integrated overall machine control.
Yamaha, which will start accepting advance orders for EC-03 at designated dealerships beginning from July 15, 2010 in the Tokyo metropolitan area and nationwide from September 15, 2010, will make the market release of the EV in the Tokyo metropolitan area on September 1, 2010 and nationwide on October 1, 2010.
