MidAmerican Wind Tax Equity and Citi have made tax equity financing commitments towards the Rattlesnake wind project. The exact size of the companies support was not disclosed.

Located in the McCulloch county, the project will use 64 of Goldwind’s GW 109/2.5MW permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) wind turbines.

The project will create about 250 jobs during the construction phase.

When operational, the wind farm is expected to be the largest till date in the US for Goldwind.

Goldwind chairman Wu Gang said: “We are very pleased to partner with world-class institutions Berkshire Hathaway Energy and Citi on this innovative and breakthrough deal.

“Their support is a testament to the performance and reliability of Goldwind’s Permanent Magnet Direct Drive (PMDD) wind turbine technology, with its industry-leading availability. Goldwind will continue our internationalization strategy.”

The total cost of the wind project could cost about $250m. The wind project was acquired by Goldwind Capital, a subsidiary of Xinjiang Goldwind, from Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Americas in last May.

The project is the first phase of a larger, 300MW wind project, which will be constructed under an balance of plant agreement with RES.
