Work is underway on a 67MW hydroelectric plant in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, with the project due to begin service in the fourth quarter of 2006.

The US$5.8M Monjolinho plant will be located on the Passo Fundo river, near Nonoai. GE Energy will supply two Francis hydro turbines, each rated at approximately 35MW, 61.8 head and 257.14rpm, together with two 13.8kV, 37.5 MVA vertical axis generators.

Enegevix Egenharia SA of Sao Paulo, Brazil is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project.
