The well will be drilled from the Transocean Arctic drilling facility at position 64°56’25.71” north and 7°08’36.88” east and is about 10km northeast of the Tyrihans oil and gas/condensate field on Haltenbanken.
Drilling programme relates to drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 475, which was awarded on 29 February 2008 in APA 2007.
Wintershall Norge is the operator of the licence 475 with 50% interest, whereas Faroe Petroleum Norge with 30% interest and Centrica Resources with 20% interest are the other licensees.
The permit, however, is subject to approval from other authorities, the directorate said in the statement.
