Eighty turbines each with a capacity of 3.6MW and a rotor diameter of 120 meters will be employed at the wind farm that will reduce carbon emissions by one million tons per annum.
Blackstone and Windland Energieerzeugungs joint venture, WindMW has employed Siemens, Seajacks, and Seaway Heavy Lift as contractors for the construction of the project.
Boskalis on behalf of Seajacks will undertake the preparation of the seabed as the first phase of construction following which Seajacks will install 80 monopile foundations.
Siemens and Seajacks will then install and commission the wind turbines to ensure project commissioning in 2013.
WindMW CEO Jens Assheuer said, "There is much work still to be done during the offshore installation but we are on track to begin delivering clean power to the public grid next year."
