WindCo, a joint venture company, is to build an 80-turbine wind farm near the town of Tehachapi in California. The NM 700/44 kWe wind turbines for the project will be supplied by the Danish company NEG Micon under a contract worth around $40 million.

WindCo is jointly owned by Florida Power and Light Inc, the UK-based Renewable Energy Systems Ltd and M&N Wind Power. Deliver of the units is due to start this month and be completed by November 1999.
