Australia's Western Power, which is engaged in electricity distribution, plans to build a new terminal substation in the Kalamunda/Mundaring area to meet the growing need for power in the Perth metropolitan area.

Western Power’s major project co-ordinator, Ian Buchanan, said: Western Power is now in the process of seeking a suitable site on which to build the new terminal substation, to be called Eastern Terminal.

Community consultation is a very important and extensive part of this project, and Western Power is inviting interested community members to attend an information session on the site selection, he continued.

Western Power is also inviting the public and interested parties to lodge submissions about economic proposals on alternative options, in relation to rebuilding the existing 132kV transmission line from Collie to eastern terminal to 330kV.
