Australian utility Western Power has completed the construction of the Bibra Lake substation as part of its Summer Ready program to meet growing demand for power during summer.

Construction of the A$13 million substation commenced in March 2005 to improve power reliability for customers in Bibra Lake, Yangebup, Beeliar, Spearwood and Coogee in Western Australia.

The Bibra Lake substation will have a second transformer installed in 2008, to increase the amount of power to be delivered, improve reliability and assist in managing peak summer demand periods in the area.

Marisa Chapman, spokesperson for Western Power, said: The Bibra Lake substation is required to cater for the industrial, commercial and residential expansion of the area. In particular it will provide for the peak electricity load demands of summer.
