The new transmission line will run from the South Seneca substation to the future TC Seneca substation, to be located approximately 0.2 miles south of the 168th Street and State Route 63 intersection in Nemaha County.

This line will supply the electricity to a pump station needed to transport crude oil from Alberta, Canada, to markets in the central US.

The open house will include representatives from Westar Energy’s line design and construction, substation, environmental services, real estate and communications teams, as well as representatives from the engineering firm Burns and McDonnell.

Westar Energy will also conduct an open house in Atchison on September 9, 2008, for a related project. Westar is proposing to construct a 115kV, high-capacity transmission line from its Walnut substation near Atchison to the future TC Severance substation, which will be located approximately 10 miles north of Atchison in Doniphan County. This project will also support the TransCanada Keystone Pipeline operation.
