Haugen held a variety of positions with Qwest, including positions in its strategic planning, human resources management, IT systems improvement and network operations departments and a variety of financial and accounting positions. Prior to working for Qwest, Haugen served as state auditor in North Dakota for two years. Haugen currently owns his own accounting firm, which specializes in providing financial expertise in order to facilitate effective business operations.
Haugen obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in business administration from The University of North Dakota in 1972 where he also completed two years of post-graduate accounting studies in 1977. Haugen obtained his certified public accountant license in 1978.
