WEST BENGAL STATE government of India has begun planning work on a number of power projects including a new plant at Sagardighi in Burdwan.

The Sagardighi project is to be implemented in three phases and will have a total installed capacity of 2000MW. Other projects in the pipeline include the Purulia pumped storage project, and the state has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation for constructing the 300MW Teesta Low dam project.
