India’s West Bengal is planning to develop additional hydroelectric resources in order to deliver a diverse energy mix, according to local media reports.

Proposed projects include two at Rammam, and others at Naxal, Pedong, Torsa and Raidak which are expected to generate 722MW in total.

The Purulia pumped storage project of 4X25MW capacity – due to begin commercial operations by 2007 – is also part of this plan.
