The proposed 2.4MW biogas facility will be operational in spring 2014.
NPG Energy will be the operator of the plant, which could supply close to 5,000 households.
The electricity generated by the plant will be consumed by carpet company Spin-group BV and used to power its yarn production facilities.
Initially, the plant will use maize silage to produce power but later this will be replaced with other renewable substrates and agricultural leftovers, the company said.
