Solar-energy services provider SunEdison activated the first three of five solar power plants that make up the 53.5MW project.
The remaining two solar farms are expected to commence operation before the end of this year.
Wells Fargo acted as the construction lender and provided about $200m to finance the installation phase of the projects.
Wells Fargo has also agreed to provide permanent equity financing for all five projects upon completion.
Southwestern Public Service, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, will buy the electricity generated by the projects.
Upon completion, the five solar farms are expected to produce nearly 1.9 million MWh of electricity over the next 20 years, generating enough to power over 8,000 average US homes per year.
