Ireland Online reported that Wavebob has received support from the Marine Institute and Sustainable Energy Ireland. The publication added that, in 2006, Wavebob’s technology was the first to be installed on the Marine Institute’s wave test site in Spiddal, Galway.
This relationship is in line with my vision of Ireland being at the forefront of global ocean energy development, said Noel Dempsey, Ireland’s minister for communications, marine and natural resources, cited in Ireland Online.
The publication also reported Andrew Parish, Wavebob’s CEO, as saying that the partnership will help the company achieve its vision of building a future that runs on green energy.
Mr Parish added: This relationship with Chevron positions us as one of the leading global wave energy technologies. The support from the Irish government, through its agencies, has allowed us to accelerate our development program and raise our profile on a global platform.
According to Ireland Online, between 2002 and 2006, Chevron invested approximately $2 billion in renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency services.
