Construction was funded by Waste Management and fuel distributor PetroCard and the New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition.
Waste Management also said it will convert its regional fleet to the clean-burning, environmentally-friendly fuel.
The new "clean n’ green fuel" public fueling station will be operated by PetroCard and will provide CNG to commercial fleets at prices which are below the cost of gasoline and diesel.
The company has purchased 14 CNG collection trucks and expects to have 45 CNG vehicles in service by the end of the year.
The fleet deployment will allow the company to meet is sustainability goal of reducing fleet emissions by 15% and increasing fuel efficiency by 15% by 2020.
The company operates the largest fleet of CNG recycling and waste collection trucks in North America.
Waste Management of New Jersey area vice president John Morris said the natural gas powered vehicles improve air quality and reduce noise pollution.
"Our 45 new CNG trucks will reduce emissions equivalent to taking 3,500 gasoline-powered vehicles off the road." Morris said.
