The alliance will look to expand the feedstock flexibility for Renmatix’s proprietary Plantrose technology beyond rural biomass and include materials derived from urban waste material.
Waste Management president of recycling services William Caesar explained that the collaboration with Renmatix is in sync with the objective of extracting maximum value from waste.
"We are working with Renmatix to further scale its technology, which has quickly emerged as the lowest-cost conversion method for producing the biobased sugar intermediates demanded by global markets," added Caesar.
Renmatix expects to generate immediate revenue from this first-of-its-kind agreement with WM as it explores multiple waste streams such as source-separated recyclables, food scraps, construction and demolition debris, and pulp and paper waste.
Renmatix CEO Mike Hamilton added, "Creating a JDA with Waste Management is an example of how we are working to extend our technology platform to meet industry demand."
