With a combined annual output of 3,100MWh the solar projects will meet some of the power needs of North Caroline High School, the Career and Technology Center, Colonel Richardson Middle and High Schools, and Greensboro Elementary School.

Caroline County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Milton Nagel said the project represents a unique collaboration between our public school system and solar energy providers and investors.

"We are pleased to note that this solar project will not only help power our schools, but also serve as an educational vehicle in our classrooms," added Nagel.

Owned and operated by Washington Gas, the systems will be installed by Kenyon Energy and will involve no upfront capital expenditure for the Caroline County Public Schools.

The project is expected to be completed in September 2012.
