The power plant, which will operate on natural gas, includes a selective catalyst recovery and oxidation catalyst system to reduce emissions.
Installation of the new gas engine is scheduled for June 2012, with the facility expected to be fully operational by the end of 2012.
The new installation will supply electricity for the existing load demand of HUC’s 7,000 customers.
Electricity will also be available to supply to the electric grid as the market demands, HUC said.
Wartsila business development manager Gary Groninger said the new system will provide maximum flexibility in operation with five-minute start-up capability and superior efficiency at part-load operation.
