Wartsila has secured an order from Odas Elektrik Uretim, an independent power producer, to supply gas engines for a new power plant at Urfa in south eastern Turkey.

The company will supply seven units of its 18V50SG spark-ignited gas engine with a combined capacity of 135MW.

The power plant is expected to be completed this year and will supply electricity to the national grid.

Wartsila Turkey managing director Ufuk Berk said that when this project is completed, Wartsila’s generating capacity in Turkey will exceed 3GW.

According to Wartsila, the 18V50SG gas engine reaches a high power plant net efficiency rating of more than 50% in combined-cycle mode.
