Australia limits capacity to boost competition
The dominant generation group in Western Australia, Western Power, has been ordered by the state government to cap its capacity to 3 GW in a measure aimed at boosting competition.
The cap will effectively prevent Western from building new power plants for some time and encourage private investment in the state.
