The results from the exploration results are said to be on lines with previously estimated exploration target of 385 – 640 million tons at 30% – 42% iron ore.
The surface rock chip results were identified from three of nine high priority aeromagnetic anomalies return an average iron grade of 40%.
Volta Mining managing director David Sumich remarked that the high grade result ia at the higher end of its exploration target of 30% – 42%.
"The results not only strengthen our belief in the potential of the Mbombo Iron Ore Project but suggest that our current Exploration Target grade and tonnage are conservative given that only half of our high priority targets have been included in the estimate," added Sumich
The results range from a low of 35.5% iron ore for a single sample collected in Area B to a high of 51.3% iron ore for a sample collected in Area C, the company stated.
Meanwhile, the company is planning to explore a number of additional geophysical targets that are not included in the estimation of the exploration target expecting iron ore mineralization.
"We are hopeful that further work in the coming months will increase the size of the Exploration Target," concluded Sumich.
