Voith Hydro has won the contract to provide generators and turbines for the Red Rock hydroelectric project in the US State of Iowa.

Being developed by a joint venture of The Western Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (WMMPA) and Missouri River Energy Services (MRES), the Red Rock power plant will produce up to 55MW of power during peak seasons once complete in 2016.

Voith is supplying two vertical Kaplan type turbines with generators and automation systems for a contract worth over EUR35M. Project construction is to start in 2013.
