Danish wind turbine supplier Vestas has received an order from US-based electricity utility AES for the delivery of 52 units of its V90 3MW wind turbine.

The contract includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2008, and the project will be completed by the end of 2009.

Vestas said that AES operated around 1,000MW of wind energy and has 4,000MW of wind projects in various stages of development worldwide.

Hans Rieks, president of Vestas Central Europe, said: We are proud that AES has chosen Vestas as its partner for this large wind energy project, and we look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation with them.
