The contract with Odell Wind Farm, a joint venture between Algonquin Power and a third party, covers 100 of Vestas’ V110 2MW turbines.
Vestas expects to start delivering the turbines during the third quarter of 2015 and the project is anticipated to start operations by the end of next year.
The Odell wind project, which is being built across four counties on 23,000 acres of land, is estimated to generate 816.6GW-hrs of energy per year.
A subsidiary of Xcel Energy has agreed to buy the energy generated from the project under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
Vestas had earlier delivered V82 1.65MW turbines to Algonquin for the St Leon project in Manitoba and the Red Lily development in Saskatchewan.
Commenting on the latest contract, Vestas sales and service division president in the US and Canada Chris Brown said: "We are excited to build yet another successful project with Algonquin, this time using our V110-2.0 MW turbine.
"With today’s order, we have announced almost 1,500 MW of orders in the US and Canada for the V110 machine, which has rapidly become our flagship in the North American market, and the industry standard for providing reliable energy at a competitive cost over its full operating life."
Vestas has to date secured contracts totaling around 2GW in the US in 2014.
