Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured an order from TuuliWatti to supply turbines with a total generating capacity of 18MW for a wind energy project in Finland.

The company will deliver, install and commission six units of its V112-3MW turbine at the Simo wind park in the municipality of Simo in Finnish Lapland.

The order also includes a VestasOnline Business SCADA system and a six-year service agreement of Active Output Management 4000.

Installation of the turbines at the Simo wind park is expected to be completed before the end of 2011.

Earlier this year, Finland launched a feed-in tariff system for renewable energy and it has a renewable energy target to produce six TWh from wind power by 2020.

TuuliWatti was established in 2009 as a joint venture between S-Group and Finnish energy firm St1 Oy.
