Vestas has secured a contract to deliver turbines for the 36.3MW BMR Jamaica wind project in Saint Elizabeth Parish.
The deal with the US-based BMR Energy requires Vestas to supply, install and commission 11 units of its V112-3.3MW turbines.
Vestas will also undertake civil and electrical works for the project, which also includes construction of an interconnection transmission line by the local utility.
The company expects to deliver the turbines in the third quarter of 2015, with commissioning of the wind farm planned in the first quarter of 2016.
Upon completion, the BMR Jamaica wind farm will generate enough energy for about 300,000 people in Jamaica.
The project has an estimated gross annual production of over 120 GWh, resulting in the reduction of 85,400 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Vestas installed the initial commercial wind generator in Jamaica in 1996 and completed the Wigton wind farm in 2010.
Vestas Mediterranean president Marco Graziano said: "Our wind turbines are well-suited to the tropical climate and are able to withstand the extreme wind conditions that can sometimes occur in the Caribbean."
