Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured an order from Enel Green Power North America to supply turbines for the 200MW Caney River wind energy project in the US state of Kansas.

The contract includes delivery and commissioning of 111 units of the V90-1.8MW turbine along with a five-year service and maintenance agreement.

Vestas will deliver the turbines in the second half of this year, with commissioning expected in late 2011.

The electricity generated by this wind project in Elk County will be sold to the Tennessee Valley Authority under a long term power purchase agreement.

Enel Green Power North America will own and operate the Caney River power project, which is developed by its partner TradeWind Energy.
