Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a 90MW wind turbine supply contract from Compañia Forestal Uruguaya (COFUSA), Uruguay.

As per the agreed terms, the company will supply 30 units of V112-3.0 MW wind turbines for the Pintado Wind Power Plant, located in the region.

The deal includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, civil and electrical works, a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution as well as a 15-year full-scope service agreement.

Commenting on the deal, COFUSA president Juan Otegui said that the company selected Vestas as its turbine supplier after several negotiations, and the V112-3.0 MW turbine will enable the company to experience efficient energy production.

Vestas Wind Systems chief sales officer Juan Araluce said, "This is a great opportunity for Vestas to strengthen our presence in Uruguay and confirms our leading position in the country, where we have installed almost 80 per cent of the total capacity as of the end of 2012.

"This 90 MW project will be largely contributing to Uruguay’s goal to have 1,000 MW of new wind energy capacity by 2015."

The delivery of the turbines will commence in the third quarter of 2013, and the wind power plant is anticipated to become operational by the second quarter of 2014.
