Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has announced a contract for the tallest turbines in China and confirmed a 79MW firm and unconditional order in Sweden.

The Chinese order was placed by Titan Wind Energy, where Vetas will supply 40 of its V110-2.0 MW turbines for a project in Licun town in Heze City in Shandong province.

The turbines will be installed with hub heights of 137m and will be the tallest in the country.

Vetas plans to deliver the turbines in the second quarter of 2017, with commissioning slated for the second half of that year.

The order also includes supervision of the turbine installation, a two-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service contract and a SCADA VestasOnline Business system for data-driven monitoring and preventive maintenance.

Titan Wind Energy CEO Yan Junxu said: “For our first project in low- and medium-wind resource area in eastern China, we believe that Vestas’ rich experience in tall tower technology and its high-quality turbines will help us capture more wind energy, thus achieving competitive cost of energy.”

Vestas Asia Pacific and China president Chris Beaufait said: “Titan has been Vestas’ tower supplier for about 10 years. We are pleased to see that the relationship between us has expanded and upgraded from a buyer-supplier one into a closer and enriched partnership.”

For the second order, which was placed by Eolus, Vestas will supply 23 of V126-3.45MW turbines for the 79MW the Jenasen wind power plant that will be located in Sundsvall municipality in Sweden.

The order requires Vestas to supply and install the wind turbines, along with a 5 year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service. Turbine delivery is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2018.

Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said: “This order proves that the right wind energy solution can provide a strong business case anywhere, including Sweden where the market is affected by low electricity and green certificate prices.”
