The Cupisnique and Talara wind farms will employ 45 units of the V100 turbines and 17 units of the V100-1.8MW turbines respectively.

Vestas will provide The scope of the contract includes services to build the wind power plants including civil and electrical works; supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines besides a 10-year service and maintenance agreement under the active output management option.

ContourGlobal president and CEO Joseph C. Brandt remarked that the two projects tap into Peru’s vast renewable resources potential and is consistent with its regional generation and renewable footprint in the region.

Vestas Wind Systems chief sales officer and Vestas Mediterranean acting president Juan Araluce added, "This new order is a very important step for Vestas’ presence and further consolidation in Latin America and it is a significant contribution to Peru’s wind power development since it is the first large scale wind farm in the country."

Delivery of the first turbines is expected to begin in early 2013 while the wind farms are expected to be commercially operational during towards the end of the year.

The power plants will produce about a combined 451GWh of energy per annum and help reduce 295,450 tons of CO2 emissions.
