Wind turbine manufacturers Vestas are to supply 53 V90 3 MW turbines for the stage 2 of the Lake Bonney wind farm in South Australia.

The development, by Lake Bonney Windpower, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock & Brown Wind Partners Limited, will see delivery of the turbines begin in Q3 and the contract includes supply and commissioning, as well as a five-year service and maintenance contract.

Commissioning of the final turbines is planned to take place in the first quarter of 2008.

Located near Mount Gambier in South Australia, the extension of the 80 MW Lake Bonney project will bring its capacity close to 240 MW, making it the largest wind park in Australia to date.
