Vestas wind turbines will be used in a 60 MW Indonesian wind power project after the Danish firm sealed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PLN.

The South Sulawesi wind farm will be one of the first large-scale renewable energy projects in Indonesia. It is being developed by a consortium led by Equis, a Singapore-based investment fund, and which includes Vestas.

The wind farm will form a key part of Indonesia’s plan to add 35 GW of additional energy capacity, including 8 GW of renewables, to the grid by 2025.

“Vestas sees a long-term potential for wind energy in Indonesia, and we are confident this project can help pave the way for additional wind power investments in Indonesia,” Vestas chief executive Anders Runevad said.

“Today’s signing is a milestone for Indonesia’s green energy transition,” said Ambassador of Denmark to Indonesia, Mr. Casper Klynge. “The wind farm project in South Sulawesi has strategic importance for the future of renewable energy in Indonesia.

“I am therefore confident that it will open the doors for even more investments into green energy projects.”
