The Danish firm made the announcement after MidAmerican filed a notice with the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB).

Once MidAmerican Energy receives green signal from Iowa Utilities Board, Vestas will start the supply and commissioning of 1,000 units of its V110-2.0 MW wind turbines to the site in the period 2016-2019.

The conditional agreement includes provisions for Vestas to deliver 100% of MidAmerican’s 2016 PTC Safe Harbor components.

It also includes a 5-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement with options to extend for up to 10 years.

Vestas sales and service division in the US and Canada president Chris Brown said: "This project, if approved, will bring considerable economic benefits to MidAmerican’s rate payers and communities, and Vestas is proud to partner with MidAmerican Energy in their commitment to generate 100 percent renewable energy."

For MidAmerican Energy, Wind XI is an important project because it is the first utility scale project with a commitment to its customers to provide 100% renewable energy. The company with Wind XI Project hopes to generate 85% of its energy from wind.

MidAmerican Energy is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy. It is one of the largest regulated utility owner of wind energy in the US.
