Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order from OX2 to supply turbines for the 112MW Raskiftet wind park in Norway.

The wind farm is being built by OX2 in the municipalities of Åmot and Trysil.

As per the order, Vestas will supply, install and commission 31 of its V126 – 3.45MW turbines with power optimised mode to produce up to 3.6MW.

The order also includes Vestas' de-icing and collision avoidance systems.

Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said: “Our advanced de-icing technology is a critical element in regaining full power-curve capacity in cold climate conditions, while OCAS opens up new commercial opportunities for sites with regulatory lighting restrictions.”

The Vestas Obstacle Collision Avoidance System (OCAS), which the company says will activate the turbines' aviation lights when an aircraft is in the immediate vicinity of the wind park.

OX2 Wind managing director Paul Stormoen said: “Raskiftet is OX2’s largest wind power project to date, and our first wind farm in Norway. We have worked successfully with Vestas for many years and are looking forward to building another high-quality wind farm together.”

After its planned commissioning at the end of 2018, the Raskiftet wind park is estimated to generate about 370 GWh of new renewable electricity per year.

Vestas expects to start turbine delivery in the second quarter of 2018. The contract also includes a five-year Active Output Management service agreement (AOM5000).

Recently, Vestas received a 278MW wind turbine supply order from E.on for a project in the US.
