Located in Apulia region in Italy, the Orta Nova wind power plant will produce 123,000MWh energy per annum meeting the electricity needs of 110,000 people in Italy. CO2 emissions will be reduced by 48,000 tons as a result of the project.
Parco Eolico is a special purpose company held by Inergia S.p.A for renewable energy production has awarded the contract to Vestas that encompasses – supply, installation and a 15-year service and maintenance agreement.
The maintenance agreement will include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and consumables.
Inergia Chief Executive Officer Onorio Onori said the company has been actively operating in the energy sector since 2003and striving to contribute to the country’s renewable energy sector.
"For this reason we have once again chosen Vestas’ technological leadership for this new project, which will be the first in Italy with V100-2.6 MW turbines," added Onori
Delivery of the first turbines is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2012 with the project being operational in the same time frame.
