Veolia has bagged the contract from the Brazilian company Quip, appointed by Petrobas to manage the supply and integration of the floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO).
Under the contract, Veolia will treat seawater by using pre-treatment and seawater sulphate removal (SRP) systems to remove sulphates and other divalent ions from injection water to enhance oil recovery.
The plant will have the capacity to produce 54,054 cubic meter of treated water per day, which will be used for injection to pressurize the oil reservoir. The delivery is scheduled for 2012.
Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies’ offices in Scotland, where the company develops production and injection water technology, will be responsible for the engineering and management of the water treatment project. VWS’ offices in Brazil will support the project with additional engineering support, local procurement and supervision of the module fabrication.
Prior to this, VWS has worked with Quip on P53 project commissioned in 2009, located in the Campos Basin.
