Veolia has secured a contract to operate and maintain the city of Jackson, Mississippi's wastewater treatment facilitates and lift stations.
The 10 year contract includes a five year renewal option. Under the environmental partnership, Veolia Water North America – South will operate Jackson’s three wastewater treatment facilities that include Savanna, Trahon and Presidential Hills).
The combined design capacity of the plants is about 125 million gallons per day.
Veolia will also take responsibility for 98 pumping stations and sludge disposal.

“Jackson’s selection of Veolia as its environmental services partner helps the city leverage Veolia’s experience and provides Veolia the opportunity to make a difference in the city of Jackson and improve service levels and wastewater quality and compliance.”
The assets will continue to belong to the city which will also maintain authority on the rate settings as well as capital planning of the plants in the short and long terms while taking Veolia’s expertise for day to day operational and maintenance services.
Veolia will run the wastewater treatment system and facilities that serve the City of Jackson as well as parts of Hinds County, eastern Madison County and western Rankin County.
The French company will also help the city in its planning objectives relating to capital enhancements, requirements for maintenance, as well as policy and regulatory efforts.
As per Veolioa, its selection by the City of Jackson would enable the latter access its industry best practices, know-how and experience from its operation of 8,500 water and wastewater facilities around the world.
