Vector, a company engaged in power and gas distribution and transmission, has appointed Simon Mackenzie as its CEO.

Mr Mackenzie has been with Vector since 1998 (then Mercury) in operational, strategic and leadership roles. The company said that he has extensive experience in the energy sector, including strategy, regulation, network management, information technology and telecommunications.

Michael Stiassny, chairman of Vector, said: As a board we believe Simon has the right credentials for the job and will lead Vector to successfully deliver our agreed strategy. The board is looking forward to continuing its work with Simon.

Mr Stiassny said that Vector has an exciting future ahead as it works to maximize the benefits of its current asset base in electricity, gas, communications and metering while exploring demand side energy solutions.
