The scope of the contract includes supply, installation, post-lay burial, termination and testing of the inter-array cables. VBMS plans to carry out the works in mid-2018.

VBMS managing director Arno van Poppel said: "This contract represents an important milestone for VBMS as we installed our very first inter-array cable for the Horns Rev2 offshore wind farm back in 2008.

"We are very proud that we have been contracted for the Horns Rev3 offshore wind farm exactly 10 years later. The award reflects our successful track record and our ability to execute contracts safely, on time and within cost targets."

Situated in the eastern North Sea off the coast of Esbjerg, Denmark, the wind farm will generate enough energy for 450, 000 households by 2020.

The project is an extension of Horns Rev 1 and 2 offshore wind farms and it will be located just beside the previous projects.

MHI Vestas will supply the wind turbines for the project, which will feature a total of fifty turbines each with 8MW capacity.

Recently, A2Sea won a contract from Vattenfall for the installation of the wind turbines at the Horns Rev 3 project.
