As reported, Vattenfall is in talks with Polskie Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo on gas supplies. The new facility is expected to consume between 0.5 and 0.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and is expected to have a thermal capacity of 250MW and electric capacity of 400MW.

According to Vattenfall, a rise in demand for heat and electricity in Warsaw and the emission regulations all support investment in gas-fired capacity in the capital city of Poland. The company claims that out of the city’s total annual consumption of 7 terawatt-hours of electricity, 50% is produced in its co-generation plants.

The new generator is likely to be online by 2016.

Vattenfall, which produces, distributes and sells heat and electricity, operates in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Poland and Sweden.
