Under the agreement, Vattenfall will initially supply up to 50MW of hydropower with certificates of Guarantee of Origin (GoO), from the Luleå river.

Vattenfall business sales energy intensive clients manager Matts Wesslén said: "We are very happy to welcome Hydro66 as a new customer and to announce another strong data center supply partnership, which is an important growth area for Vattenfall in the Nordic region."

The power supply deal to the 8,000m2 Hydro66 colocation data center facility.is valid until 2017.

Hydro66 business development director Paul Morrison said: "Establishing our first green data center in Boden means we can offer at least 50% annual cost savings to our customers along with an environmentally friendly solution and enhanced flexibility.

"Vattenfall has met all our requirements and being the biggest energy business in Sweden their network, expertise in the area and production and grid possibilities made the supplier choice very easy for us."

Vattenfall is also supplying renewable power for the data centers of Facebook and KnCMiner.
