Sweden's state owned utility Vattenfall has sold its assets in Peruvian power firms Cahua and Cementos for US$35M to US-based NRG Energy.

The deal is a part of Vattenfall’s strategy to focus on core business and concentrate on the north European markets.

In the deal, Vattenfall’s subsidiary, Nordic Power Invest, sold about 60% in hydro power producer Cahua S.A. and 100% in hydro power and district heating firm Cementos Norte Pacasmayo to NRG Energy. Swedish contraction and engineering firm Skanska will also sell its holdings in Cahua to NRG.

Vattenfall has owned parts of the power companies with a production capacity of 45 and 66 MW respectively for about a year. Earlier this year, Vattenfall also sold off its assets in Bolivia and Brazil to NRG.
