The 170MW South Kyle Wind Farm, which will be located near Patna, Carsphairn, Dalmellington and New Cumnock, will feature 50 turbines.

Vattenfall noted that the construction on the onshore wind farm is expected to commence in 2016, if approved, and the first power generation will be achieved in 2018.

During the peak of the construction phase, South Kyle Wind Farm is expected to create 79 jobs.

This wind power project is anticipated to generate clean electricity, enough to power around 90,000 households in the UK.

Commenting on the project, Vattenfall UK Onshore Wind Development director Piers Guy said that if South Kyle Wind Farm is approved it will bring lasting economic benefit to the local community.

"We are committed to engaging with local people and businesses at each stage during the development process and we are committed to developing an excellent wind farm and maximizing local economic benefit.

"Developments like this not only make a substantial contribution to the environment, they also have a significant positive impact on both the local and national economy," added Guy.
